Why your business should have a Facebook Business (Fan) Page..

Don't risk being left behind as more businesses shift to social networks like Facebook.

Most businesses find the process of designing and developing a custom facebook business (fan) page a bit confusing and most don’t know where to start.  Well now it doesn't have to be.  Boss Creative can now take this off your long list of to-dos and spring you into the World of Social Media.  A World where everyone is connected with everyone else.

We are often asked why does a business of any size need one?  Lets break it down as simple as we can:

  • Facebook has more than 750 million active users
  • 50% of active users log on to Facebook in any given day
  • Average user spends more than 700 billion minutes per day on Facebook

Think about this:  Your clients are not going to log onto your website everyday, but more than half of all users log on to Facebook in any given day. That is over 375 million people you could potentially reach with a daily status message. Plus, a Facebook fan page offers these advantages:

  1. Fan pages are visible to even those without a Facebook profile account. If you send a Twitter message or email  with a link, anyone can view the page.
  2. The pages include links because they are public therefore you can pickup some great facebook credit which help boost your search engine rankings in Google, Bing & Yahoo.  In other words, if someone does an online search of your company, this is one more link that will come up.
  3. Here's a big one!  Find out who your target audience is! Facebook fan pages can help you figure that out. Each page keeps statistics of who your followers are and who is participating. It will tell you if they are male or female, their age range, where they are located and what language they speak.
  4. With a regular Facebook profile you are limited to 5,000 friends. With a Facebook Fan Page the number of fans is unlimited. This might not be a huge thing if you are just starting out, but always plan for your growth.
  5. You can now customize the design of your page outside facebooks standard uniform look.  Perfect for reinforcing and extending your brand consistancy.

If you’ve got a brand that already has a strong following a Facebook Page can be a great way to launch a community. Encourage discussion among fans by asking questions like: “what’s your favorite product?” or “what could we do to improve our product?” Post updates weekly, if not daily and point your fans to any off-site promotions, such as giveaways hosted on different web sites.

And keep it fun! Nobody likes straight up business all the time! Zappos, for example, has crazy videos and posts that aren’t related to shoes, which is why their fan base is well over 21,000. It will take time to build your fan base, so remember to keep sending out invites to new contacts asking if they want to become a fan of your business Page. Constantly promote the Page in any way possible, and keep your content fresh — give people a reason to check in on your page regularly.
